About the Lazer-Lift Procedure
The Lazer-Lift procedure is revolutionary because it can rejuvenate like a neck or face lift, but is far less invasive. Lazer-Lift surgery especially benefits those who want to remove fat deposits from localized areas of the face. Because it uses fewer incisions, healing is quicker and easier for the patient. Instead of pulling back the skin, a combination of lasers and liposculpture is used to get rid of excess tissue and create a younger, more attractive visage. Dr. Schafer is now using Erchonia and Polaris lasers for optimal smoothing and tightening of the skin and underlying tissue, which further enhances this innovative procedure.
How the Lazer-Lift Procedure Is Performed
Tumescent Liposculpture and Laser techniques are combined to sculpt and redefine the neck and lower face, creating the effect of a facelift. Tumescent Liposculpture provides more precise results than non-tumescent treatments. Tumescent Liposculpture has many benefits: it causes less trauma to surrounding skin and tissue; it is easier for the physician to perform so that surgery duration is shortened; it shortens recovery times for the patient.
Bruising and swelling are dramatically reduced and most patients who have the procedure performed on Friday can be back at work on Monday. Instead of being cut and pulled, the loose skin in the neck and jowls contracts to hug the contours of the re-sculpted neck and jaw line, virtually eliminating the "wind-tunnel" look that many patients get from a traditional facelift. Recovery is rapid and scarring is minimal.
Most patients can decide to have either a general or local anesthesia during the Lazer-Lift procedure. Very small, self-dissolving incisions are made along the jaw line, in the cheeks or in the neck below the chin — in the most inconspicuous locations as possible. The placement of the incisions depends on the individual's needs. A cannula is used to precisely remove unwanted and excess tissue. Erchonia and Polaris lasers are then applied to tighten surrounding muscles or tendons, including the underlying Platysma muscle. After the correct amount of tissue or fat has been removed and the incisions have been sutured, a compression dressing or bandage is applied immediately and worn for about three days to prevent bleeding, reduce swelling and support the treated areas. The procedure can last from thirty minutes to several hours depending upon the extent of surgery.
Rapid Recovery Method
Dr. Schaffer created the
Rapid Recovery Method to aid the healing process. The Rapid Recovery Method helps to minimize bruising and get beneficial supplements and medications to the healing tissues.
Where Is the Procedure Performed?
Facial liposuction surgery can be performed in Dr. Schafer's office, an outpatient surgical facility, or a hospital depending upon Dr. Schafer's and the patient's preference. Dr. Schafer is affiliated with Sharp Coronado Hospital, Sharp and Scripps Hospital and Mission Bay Hospital.
